Damp-proofing & Waterproofing Association in Southern Africa
DWASA is an Association of members aimed at raising standards throughout the industry. It is dedicated to establishing and maintaining an organisation that will be recognised by the industry and the general public as a body made up of skilled, reliable and ethical practitioners providing professional services to its customers.
The Association aims to create a body of professional applicators in a variety of differing skill sets.
DWASA intends to achieve this by establishing sound relationships with key organisations within the construction industry such as the National Home Builders Registration Council (NHBRC), The Master Builders Association (MBA), The South African Paint Manufacturers Association (SAPMA) etc as well as with government organisations such as the Construction Education and Training Authority (CETA). Similar organisations within member countries will also be approached.
DWASA will pursue skills training for its members to properly skill their employees in aspects of damp-proofing, waterproofing, painting and renovations – some in conjunction with other agencies. The ultimate aim is to be able to offer training modules that are recognised by SAQA and CETA, providing a recognised career path for employees.
DWASA aims to help set standards of conduct between members and their clients, including arbitration (at a cost) if required.
DWASA will encourage suppliers of products to give presentations so that members become familiar with new and existing products and trends within the industry.
DWASA will liaise with appropriate bodies and advise on health and safety issues affecting members.
DWASA will strictly control membership to the Association by accepting only those contractors able to show a proven track record of professional work and conduct and who agree to honour all guarantees that are given.
A minimum of two general meetings of the Association will be held each year.
